Hi all ...

I'll arrive in Sydney in September 2010 and I'll stay in Australia for about a year.

Well, it's a bit difficult to pack one of my didgeridoos into my backpack :-D

So I will need a good didgeridoo .. can't live without a didgeridoo! I won't have much money .. so I can't buy an expensive didge. I don't want to get a "tourist didge" made of bamboo or made by white people but painted with Aboriginal pictures. Do you know a shop to get a good didgeridoo like this? If possible I'd like to get one in key of D or E .. other didgeridoos may be okay too.

I'll buy a car in Sydney to travel around Australia .. and so I thought about buying a cajon too. Is it possible to get a cheap cajon in Sydney? Or a djembé (jambe) drum? Cajon would be better ...

Thank you for your help!!

Peace
Philipp

PS: Hope to meet some of you guys for jamming or busking etc. ... Looking forward to come down under :)

Hi Philipp

Sounds like your up for quite an adventure... there a few spots around The Rocks that sell didj's, although the mainly cater for tourists. I'm also on the lookout for a didj in the key of E, so hopefully someone could help us out!

Try checking out iDidj online too.

Let me know when you get here, I'd be up for a jam session!

One love
Brendan
Hey mate,

I had a good look around Sydney last week and couldn't find any of the places I had heard about. There was a store in the rocks, near the clock tower, but I couldn't find it and I think its shut. There was also a couple of stores in Darling Harbour, which have also shut. You may have to settle for a didge from further afield. I can recommend YidakiVibes (Kristian Benton, who is on WDN), www.burtondidj.com or www.didgeridoobreath.com. There are a few others that look OK but don't know too much about them. If I was gonna buy a good didge, these are the guys I would be speaking to. I have two of Kristians and have my eye on a third when the boss says OK : ) good luck with it and if you're gonna come to Canberra, ACT for a while let me know, might be able to accomodate you for a few days.

All the best.

Matt
